The strata corporation is governed by the strata council which is elected by the owners. Typically, a strata council will comprise of three to a maximum number of seven owners who are elected each year at the Annual General Meeting.

At the first strata council meeting following the Annual General Meeting, positions are elected to fulfill the role of the President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary as outlined by the strata corporation bylaws. In addition, special committee chairpersons may be elected (i.e. landscaping, housekeeping, security, etc.) based on the specific needs of the property owners.

The work of the strata council is essential to the well being of the community, as is the support and cooperation of the owners. With this in mind, it is important for owners to remember that council members are volunteers who donate their time and efforts to care for the property on behalf of all owners.
